April 23, 2015 – Fr. David S. Ciancimino, SJ, was named Canisius High School's 35th president. The Canisius High School Board of Trustees and the Jesuit Board of Members unanimously approved his appointment, and he will begin his duties as president at the 145-year-old institution June 1, 2015.

April 22, 2015 – Forty years ago at Wheeling Jesuit University, Bishops and concerned Catholic community members gathered on campus to formally announce the release of “This Land is Home to Me: A Pastoral Letter on Powerlessness in Appalachia." April 20, 2015 – Members of three New York City based Jesuit institutions met with the legislative staffs of state senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer to advocate for several pressing faith-justice issues. Students from Xavier High School joined parishioners from the Church of St. Francis Xavier and St. Ignatius Loyola Parish to meet with the senators and voice their concerns over environmental justice, human trafficking, immigration reform, and supplemental nutrition programs.

April 16, 2015 – Two Catholic leaders from New York City will be part of Le Moyne College’s 65th commencement celebration, where they will receive honorary degrees. They are Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the archbishop of New York, who will present the commencement address, and Fr. April 1, 2015 – For the past few months, the USA Northeast Province has been highlighting the work of Jesuit artists from different disciplines through a three-part series entitled Jesuit and the Arts. “The response of those who have attended each Jesuits and the Arts event has been very enthusiastic,” said Fr. Dennis Yesalonia, SJ, executive director for advancement for the USA Northeast Province and creator of the series. “Jesuits have long used artistic media to enhance the liturgical life of the Church to reveal in human form what is also sacred.”

March 25, 2015 – Fr. Charles Frederico, SJ, vocation director for the Maryland and USA Northeast Provinces visited Brooklyn Jesuit Prep (BJP) as the keynote speaker for the school’s career day. The visit was also an opportunity to teach them about Ignatian Spirituality. “I spoke about using the Examen as a way to keep a daily personal relationship with Christ - who loves each and all of us for who we are and calls each and all of us to serve him uniquely from that relationship,” explained Fr. Frederico.

March 23, 2015 – On Friday, March 20, 2015, Dr. Linda LeMura was inaugurated as the 14th president Le Moyne College. Not only is she the first laywoman to be elected president of Le Moyne but is also the first laywoman to lead any Jesuit college or university in the United States.

March 19, 2015 – Sunday, March 22, marks World Water Day, a day celebrated annually since 1993 by the United Nations to raise awareness of unequal access to accessible, clean water for consumption, sanitation and daily use. The focus for World Water Day 2015, reflected in the UN World Water Development Report which will be released on March 22, is Water and Sustainable Development.

March 6, 2015 – On Mar. 5, 2015, Cardinal Edward Egan, archbishop emeritus of New York, passed away at the age of 82. Cardinal Egan had served as Archbishop of New York from 2000 to 2009. Edward Cardinal Egan, an alumnus of the Gregorian University, was a loyal friend to the Society of Jesus in this country and other parts of the world. He visited many Jesuit parishes and schools when he served in the Diocese of Bridgeport, Conn. and the Archdiocese of New York.

February 20, 2015 – On February 9 and 10, Ignatian identity directors from Jesuit middle and high schools along the East Coast gathered at Xavier High School for their annual meeting. Representatives from 23 schools from Boston to D.C. came together to pray about, reflect on, and discuss ways to deepen the Ignatian identity of their institutions.
