Regis High School Welcomes 23rd President, Jesuit Fr. Daniel Lahart

Sept. 22, 2016 - On Sept. 9, 2016, during Regis High School’s 103rd Mass of the Holy Spirit, the school community welcomed the newest member of the Regis staff, Fr. Daniel Lahart, SJ, the incoming president.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a tradition among Jesuit schools in which the school community gathers to give thanks for God’s gifts and to seek the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the coming year. The Mass was celebrated by USA Northeast Province Provincial Fr. John Cecero, SJ, who also installed Fr. Lahart as president.

"As with the presidents before you, your charge goes far beyond budgets and buildings, finances and fundraising,” said Fr. Cecero during the missioning ceremony. “You have as your charge to ensure the Jesuit character of the work—a work that at its core exists Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam—for the greater glory of God."

After being missioned, Fr. Lahart delivered his first homily as president to the school community. He reminded them that everything good is a gift from God and they should not lose sight of His presence in their lives. "Blessed with the Holy Spirit, we ask, 'What sort of year will this be?' As you deserve? Better than you deserve? This year will be better than any of us deserve. And for this we are grateful,” he said. “And how do we respond? Generously! We remember that to whom much is given, much is expected."
