New Role for Fr. Hernan Paredes, SJ

May 1, 2017 - Fr. Hernan Paredes, SJ, will become the next pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Staten Island starting Aug. 1, 2017. 

Originally from Ecuador, Fr. Paredes studied at the Weston Jesuit School of theology in Cambridge. He worked for several years in spirituality formation, residing at St. Anthony's Parish, Oceanside, N.Y. Most recently he has served as a high school teacher at the Loyola School in Manhattan. 

Fr. Paredes looks forward to serving Mt. Carmel's mission of reaching out the poor and disadvantaged of our society. He wants to be a "shepherd living with the smell of the sheep."
