Thanksgiving Prayers 2018

Nov. 19, 2018 – Blessings and warm wishes for you and your loved ones during this Thanksgiving and as we prepare for the Christmas season. The Maryland and USA Northeast Provinces have assembled several thanksgiving prayers that can be used for your family gatherings.

They can be viewed below or as a downloadable PDF.

Creator God, In a spirit of gratitude,
we celebrate with family and friends.
We give thanks for those who are good to us.
We give thanks for those who were
there to comfort during trying situations.
And we give thanks for those
who remind us of your presence.
On this Thanksgiving Day,
as we give thanks for the light of your love,
help us to be mindful
of those who will need us tomorrow.
Amen.

By Fr. James F. Keenan, SJ

Bless us and our families this
Thanksgiving day, O Lord.
Thank you for all the gifts you
lavish upon us throughout the year.
May those who hunger have bread.
And may we who have bread
so bountifully today hunger
always for your justice and peace.
Amen!

We thank you, God our Father,
for the shelter and comfort of our homes;
for the love and companionship of
our family and friends; for our health,
and our many gifts and abilities;
and for all the blessings
which we take for granted.
Hear our prayer for all who are
less fortunate than we are
and bless those who work to help them.
For Jesus Christ’s sake.
Amen.
