May 14, 2015 – On May 11, Brooklyn Jesuit Prep (BJP) held its annual fundraiser
at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. An enthusiastic
crowd of BJP supporters came to raise funds for the Jesuit middle school
which serves low-income families in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The school’s mission is to turn students into leaders who
are intellectually competent, open to growth, loving, religious and committed
to doing justice. With the help of BJP, students are given the tools necessary
for them to excel in life and be men and women for others.
“Although our families pay a modest tuition, we must raise
over 90 percent of our operating budget from donors who believe in our
mission,” said Patricia Gauvey president of BJP. “Our important work could not
continue without the generosity of many.”
Preliminary numbers indicate that the event raised more than
the $70,000 goal that was raised at last year's event.
