Our Work

”Members of boards of trustees and parish councils have a special role in the vision and governance of our Jesuit sponsored ministries.  They should see to it that each of their members has the opportunity for sufficient formation in Ignatian values and the skills necessary for the special responsibility they bear.”

–Fr. Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, “Cooperating with Each Other in Mission,” Creighton University, October 7, 2004.

Trustees are playing an increasingly important role in Jesuit education at all levels.  As the number of Jesuits in active ministry continues to decline, the Board of Trustees of each institution serves as its governing body.

Working together with the Provincial to ensure and deepen the Jesuit identity of each school is among the most important duties of each board. The USA East Province, Jesuit Schools Network and AJCU host regular programming to strengthen trustees’ understanding of the Ignatian mission of our schools and reflect on the responsibilities they bear to guarantee the further growth and development of each school as an expression of the work and priorities of the Society of Jesus.
