June 26, 2025 – From June 17 to 20, over 90 ecology leaders from a cross-sector of Jesuit institutions across Canada and the U.S. gathered at Loyola University Chicago for the Jesuit Integral Ecology Assembly. Bringing individual gifts and the gits of their ministries, delegates were encouraged to think about how Jesuits and our works can further contribute to a spiritual and cultural transformation to address the human problems of selfishness, greed and apathy at the heart of our environmental crisis. Jesuit Superior General Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ sent a video greeting delegates and encouraging this work. Delegates were challenged to think like community organizers and to leave with hope and take actions following the gathering to grow a network of mutuality. News articles capturing moments of the gathering are available on the Ignatian Solidarity Network website.
Two delegates for the USA East Jesuit Province recorded brief reflections on a poignant moment of the gathering.
Shannon Berry, religion teacher at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., offered this reflection
Rob McDowell, is a former board member and spiritual director at Ignatius Retreat House in Atlanta, GA offered another reflection.
