Saints in the Making Art Contest – Call for Entries

Pope Francis announced last year that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, two young Catholics beloved for their vibrant faith and witness to holiness, will be canonized during two major jubilee celebrations dedicated to young people. Acutis, who had attended a Jesuit high school in Milan, will become the first “millennial” saint. Frassati, who also attended a Jesuit school, is known for his love of mountains and his quiet charity toward the poor. We are calling for artwork inspired by their lives that will hopefully inspire others to imitate them and live holy lives of service.

Call for Entry Deadline: June 15, 2025

Eligibility Criteria

This call is open to all students currently attending a Jesuit high school in the USA East Province.  Seniors who will graduate in 2025 are also eligible.

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of jurors with the top winners receiving the following monetary prizes:

1^st Place – $250
2^nd Place – $150
3^rd Place – $100

Additionally, the first-place winning entry will be featured on a prayer card to be distributed to Jesuit high school students in the USA East Province, and the winning artist will be featured in an upcoming issue of JESUITS Magazine.

Submission Requirements:

• Artwork subject matter can be either Carlo Acutis or Pier Giorgio Frassati, individually or together. (Any text referencing either saint in your artwork should include either “Saint” or “St.” in front of either name.)
• Media accepted include original paintings (watercolor, oil, acrylic, or mixed media), mosaic, drawings, collage, photography, digital/graphic.
• 1 minimum and 3 maximum artworks per entry.
• Submissions should be titled “Firstname_Lastname_TitleOfArtwork.jpg”
• Click here to upload high-resolution images of the artwork. Images must be JPEG or JPG, under 10MB.  Winners will be required to provide a vector file in PDF, Adobe Illustrator or EPS format and ensure that the design is scalable and high-resolution.
