Jesuit Formation: A Story in Five Parts

Becoming a Jesuit is more than a decision to follow a vocation in religious life. It is a journey of transformation—a spiritual pilgrimage of faith, service, and learning. The pillars of Jesuit formation date back to the Constitutions of the Society of Jesus, written by St. Ignatius Loyola. He envisioned a comprehensive, rigorous, and deeply spiritual journey, designed to prepare Jesuits for a life of service, education, and devotion to the Church. The process is both demanding and rewarding, requiring a profound commitment to the Jesuit mission and a deepening of one’s relationship with God. For nearly 500 years, Jesuits throughout the world have followed in the steps of St. Ignatius to become spiritual, educated, humble servants of Christ. The USA East Province is grateful for its men in formation, who have all heeded a unique call from the Holy Spirit.
