Fr. Keller is the outgoing President of Scranton Prep. He has served in various roles at other Jesuit high schools on the East Coast.

This July, I will be stepping down as president of Scranton Prep after eighteen years in that position, and after thirty-two years in Jesuit high school administration. I know that people mean very well when they talk about all of the bricks and mortar projects that have taken place during these years, but honestly that is not what gives me the most happiness, peace or satisfaction. To me, the most important building that we do in Jesuit schools is the building of young men and women into persons of faith, competence and integrity. The beautiful and amazing transformation of hearts and minds that occurs within these walls each day has always been to me our school's most important "building project".

So when I approach the question of what makes me happy in my work as a religious today, the elements that I just mentioned are primary. What gives me joy is seeing a high school senior re-discover a relationship with God on a Kairos retreat, or watching a teen grow through an experience of disappointment or failure, or listening to a young person reflect on the significance of a service project with the poor. Working in a Jesuit high school is truly a graced and privileged position from which to observe the presence and action of God in the hearts and lives of young men and women. I thank God daily for the opportunity to share in this building project with our dedicated lay and Jesuit colleagues. My deepest joy as a religious is knowing that I share in God's work.
