Lent 2018

As we prepare for Holy Week, we ask you to remember our Lenten appeal. Your gifts – and your prayers – are still needed.

In addition to a strong and very effective network of middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities throughout the world, the Jesuits are involved in retreat ministries, spiritual direction, pastoral service as well as chaplaincies in hospitals, prisons and the military.

Donations to the Jesuits by way of the province support these ministries, which are crucial to our mission.

For example:

  • Some Jesuits are available every day for spiritual direction; the value of their ministry cannot and does not have a price tag on it, so the USA Northeast Province gladly and willingly supports these Jesuits.
  • Many Jesuits leave early in the morning to celebrate parish Masses, while others minister in hospital emergency rooms late into the night. They may receive a small stipend for this service, but the Province provides for the rest of their needs.

These important ministries are the reason for our Lenten appeal, and we invite you to partner with us through a gift of support.

We also invite you to make this special Ignatian prayer part of your day: Lord, teach me to be generous; teach me to serve you as you deserve! We invite you to make that prayer your own.

Thank you. Your gift will allow us – together – to do God’s work each day.
