Office of Ignatian Spirituality

Spirituality

The Office of Ignatian Spirituality (OIS), a ministry of the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus, works to create opportunities for people to experience the Spiritual Exercises and the spiritual wisdom of St. Ignatius Loyola.

Operating from Maine to Georgia, OIS makes Ignatian spirituality more available to more people in more formats through the promotion of Ignatian prayer, spiritual direction, formation, and young adult and Spanish language programs. Using creative means and diverse methods, OIS:

  • ministers to adult Catholics who speak Spanish and desire to deepen their Ignatian way of proceeding.
  • enriches local communities of young adults committed to the Ignatian tradition.
  • supports the ongoing formation of spiritual directors in the Ignatian tradition.
  • compiles and promotes digital resources from across the Ignatian network

Working with Jesuits, women’s religious communities, lay people, teachers, spiritual directors, and alumni of Jesuit schools, OIS continues the work of Ignatius in today’s Church. Cultivating active prayer practices built on deep and personal connections with Jesus, OIS is helping people grow a spirituality that permeates aspects of their everyday life — family, work, school, church, discernment, and the pursuit of social, racial and environmental justice.
